Test Results (updated 31 October 2007)

A growing number of scientific studies shows that the BG-Sentinel is a superior trap for tiger mosquitoes and other species.  A list  of these investigations can be found below.  New references will be added regularly.

Comparison of different collection methods in Brazil

Mean catching rates of the BG-Sentinel and other collection methods for the yellow fever mosquito Aedes aegypti in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, during the rainy season 2003/2004, +/- standard error. BG-Sentinel with BG-Lure attractant, n=32; CO2 trap: Mosquito Magnet Liberty ®, n=32; Trap with visual clues: Fay-Prince trap, a day time trap specifically designed to catch Ae. aegypti, n=30; Human landing collection:  volunteers trained to catch mosquitoes trying to bite them, n=32. Catching the yellow fever mosquito Aedes aegypti

Catching the Asian tiger mosquito Aedes albopictus

Catching the Polynesian tiger mosquito Aedes polynesiensis

  • In field tests in July-August 2005 in American Samoa, four types of mosquito trap were tested with Aedes polynesiensis. The BG-Sentinel trap was clearly the most effective. More information will be available in the future.

Catching other species

A list of these and other scientific papers and abstracts that led to the development of the BG-Sentinel and the BG-Lure can be found in our literature list. If you want to be updated on further developments, please visit the feedback page and leave a message.
